ABOUT
Me

I love meaningful conversation.

I enjoy learning about people, who they are, what they have seen, and who they want to be. More than anything, I wanted to create Her Royal Science for people to share their life experiences in a safe space, free from reproach or ridicule, thereby allowing others who may have experienced something similar to feel seen and heard.

Please join me on this journey. I invite you to listen, reflect, and grow with me.

RECOMMEND AN INDIVIDUAL WHOSE STORY YOU WOULD LIKE TO HEAR ON OUR PODCAST

Launched in June of 2019, Her Royal Science is a podcast created to feature underrepresented minorities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from around the world. Pioneered by neuroscientist and spoken-word artist Dr Asma Bashir, Her Royal Science (@her_science) is a platform through which individuals can uninhibitedly discuss their roles and experiences in STEM. Her Royal Science celebrates minorities in STEM on a public forum for one reason in particular: inspiration is often a result of bearing witness to what is possible, for an entire generation of children wanted to become astronauts only after we made it to the moon. When we see individuals achieve the goals we once thought were unattainable, we are less hesitant to dream bigger and loftier.

Tune in for inspirational interviews with women, people of colour, LGBTQ+, and differently-abled, and accessibility challenged individuals in STEM, royalty in their own right.

Listen to our chats with:

  • An engineer from Boston University (E02)

  • A neuroscientist from the University of Mississippi Medical Center (E03)

  • A neuroendocrinologist from the University of British Columbia (E04)

  • An epidemiologist from Simon Fraser University (E07)
